It’s hard to believe that June is already here. It’s been another busy month here at The MLC.
The big news is that we completed our second royalty
distribution to Members, and once again payments went out on-time. This distribution included royalties payable on usage that took place in February of this year. I’m pleased to report that our initial match rate for February’s usage was just over 82%, improving on January’s initial match rate of 80% and, again, in-line with industry benchmarks. Starting with next month’s distribution, we will begin to reprocess the unmatched royalties from January and February that we could not initially pay out, with the hope of improving those match rates further in the coming months.
The MLC announced a partnership series with the Recording Academy to present webinars for the 12 Chapters around
the country and its new Songwriters & Composers Wing. Aimed at educating the Academy’s creative membership on The MLC’s work, the series kicked off on May 4 and runs through the end of July with sessions for Chapters in San Francisco, Philadelphia, New York City, Los Angeles, Atlanta and elsewhere.
The MLC recently launched a series of five webinars, each of which features one of our DQI partners – Vistex, Blokur, Exactuals, Music Data Services and TuneRegistry – presenting their version of the DQI as made available to
their customers. Each presenter demonstrated the DQI’s functionality and capabilities for checking musical works data in bulk. You can watch any of them at your convenience by clicking here.
If your organization or group is interested in partnering with The MLC on a webinar series or any other kind of educational or outreach initiative, please contact us to get a conversation started on any ideas you have.
