Welcome to the November edition of The MLC’s Member newsletter, which includes recaps of both our latest royalty distribution and the recent MLC Membership Meeting. Let’s dive right in!

The MLC completed its eighth royalty distribution of the year on Friday, November 12 (two days ahead of schedule!) and we are pleased to share that this marked the fifth consecutive month that the total royalties distributed to our Members exceeded $30 million! This month's

distribution primarily covered newly reported usage that took place in August. The total of all royalty pools reported to The MLC for this cycle was just over $55.5 million, and we were able to match nearly 84 percent of that amount to songs currently registered in our database. After deducting any activity covered by voluntary licenses between our Members and DSPs, we collected nearly $49.5 million in royalties and distributed almost $35 million to our Members. The remaining royalties still pending distribution break down as follows: 

• $9.1 million in royalties for uses we have not been able to match to registered works;    
• $5.1 million in royalties for shares of matched works that have not yet been registered (or claimed) by our Members; and  
• $312k in matched royalties that are on legal hold.

The MLC hosted its first Annual Membership Meeting on Wednesday, November 10. We hope you were able to attend. We provided updates on every aspect of our operations, including the details of our distributions to date and an update on the work we are doing on the historical unmatched royalties that DSPs transferred to us earlier this year. We've included some of the key metrics we shared during the meeting in this month’s Member newsletter in case you missed it. We also recorded the entire session in case you want to watch it.   

As we announced in last month’s Member newsletter, The MLC has developed - and begun distributing on a monthly basis - a list of the top 1,000 unmatched sound recording uses based on their calculated royalty value. This list gives our Members another way to search our

unmatched data and look for unmatched uses of their works. You can sign up to start receiving the list below:

The MLC has a new video in both English and Spanish that covers the streaming royalties that music creators can collect and explains what The MLC is and how it distributes those royalties – all in about 60 seconds! If you know someone who may be eligible to receive
