Every month, we share detailed distribution information with our Members, including a breakdown of the remaining royalties that are pending distribution into the following three categories: unmatched, unclaimed and on hold. We do this to provide greater transparency into the reasons these royalties are being held and to help our Members understand the steps they can take to help us reduce these amounts.
In February, we shared our annual recap of all our 2022 royalty distributions with our Members, as well as updated cumulative statistics for our 2021 distributions. This recap highlighted the fact that we continue to achieve historically high match rates, which has allowed us to distribute more digital audio mechanicals than ever before to our Members. In the recap, we also discussed how The MLC is illuminating — and eliminating — the “black box” for digital audio mechanicals. Finally, we included an update on our progress processing historical unmatched royalties and the latest timeline showing what happens once the CRB issues a final rate determination setting out the rates for the Phono 3 period (2018 to 2022).
